Description: The research-grade biosimilar is a human recombinant IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) protein. PD-1 is an important immune checkpoint protein expressed on activated T-cells, B-cells, and macrophages. Binding of PD-1 to its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2 prevent T-cell activation and cytokine production. The monoclonal antibody binds to PD-1 on T-cells and prevents its interaction with the ligands, thereby reactivating T-cells and inhibiting tumor growth. The original monoclonal antibody is approved by the FDA to treat patients with metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) and those patients with locally advanced CSCC but are not candidates for curative surgery or curative radiation
