The antibody is a potent antagonist of programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) function. It inhibits the interaction of PD-L1 with PD-1 and CD80 and activates T-lymphocytes to kill cancer cells. The monoclonal antibody does not cause antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity.
