Description

Anti-NT-proBNP (13-27) Capture Antibodyis available at Gentaur for Next week Delivery.

Description: Natriuretic peptides are hormones that are produced by the cardiac tissues and are involved in functions such as maintaining homeostasis of body fluids and regulating blood pressure. There are three major known natriuretic peptides: Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-type NP. BNP is first synthesized as pre-proBNP in the myocardium of the ventricle, which is then cleaved first to proBNP, then to active BNP (34 amino acids) and an inactive N-terminal proBNP (NT-proBNP). Although BNP and NT-proBNP are secreted in equal concentrations, NT-proBNP has a half-life of 120 mins. Increased levels of NT-proBNP are found with increased age, hypertrophy of the ventricles, fibrillation the atria and heart failure. Therefore NT-proBNP serves as an important diagnostic marker for cardiac failure.
